Our first year out of college my roommate decided that we had to get a Christmas tree for our "grown-up" apartment. She and her helpful elf boyfriend brought the tree up our set of stairs that are so steep walking up them counts as a workout. We all had fun decorating it, and I think we might have stuck a couple of presents under the thing.

Although I'm not facing any major family stress right now, I can still predict a handful of annoyances that will flare up among the group gathering for my Thanksgiving Day feast. Strong emotions are bound to come up when family gets together, whether it's over something as silly as who gets to make the mashed potatoes or something embarrassing your mom says when she gets tipsy.

Thanksgiving is almost here, and it might just be my favorite holiday. Every year my family gets together for a big party at my aunt's house. I always look forward to the classic food like turkey and mashed potatoes, but I also love the dishes specific to my family, like my mom's spicy jalapeno cranberry sauce or the creamed onions made according to my grandma's recipe.

According to new research, it's usually a man who says, "I love you" first. Yes, somebody actually studied this. The researchers reasoned that in general women have a more realistic view of relationships, and are thus, less likely to get carried away early on.
