Do Tell: Have You Done Anything Brave Recently?

After a terrible breakup, I told a close friend that I thought she was very brave for standing by her decision.

After a terrible breakup, I told a close friend that I thought she was very brave for standing by her decision. She just waved me off and told me that breaking up with someone isn't brave. But I completely disagree. Heck, I think getting a Brazilian bikini wax is pretty brave! I think there are many little things that we do throughout our day that, even if they don't look so amazing to an outsider, are really acts of bravery for us. So ladies, do tell, have you done anything big or small in the past week that you consider brave? If so, what was it?

When something goes wrong in our lives, it's not uncommon to play the blame game. Poll

Dear Poll: Have You Ever Gone to a Movie Alone?

I'm a big promoter of doing things alone, mostly because I don't like missing out on things just because I have no one to do them with.

I'm a big promoter of doing things alone, mostly because I don't like missing out on things just because I have no one to do them with. While I haven't braved going out to a sit-down restaurant alone, I have gone to a movie theater multiple times by myself, and found the experience weird only because it wasn't uncomfortable. Going solo is great because I didn't have to feel guilty about dragging someone to a movie they didn't want to see. Some people think I'm crazy when I tell them I do this, so ladies, what I want to know is, have you ever gone to see a movie by yourself?

Do Tell: What Would You Change?

In my book, one thing that constitutes an emotionally healthy person is expecting that you're an imperfect being and always leaving room for improvement.

In my book, one thing that constitutes an emotionally healthy person is expecting that you're an imperfect being and always leaving room for improvement. The ways to better yourself as a person are endless: you can work on accepting yourself more, forgiving others more easily, or becoming more assertive. This, of course, doesn't mean that you shouldn't love who you are as is, it just means that you're a work in progress, which is a good thing.

Obviously these kind of changes don't happen over night; in fact, they can take years and a lot of determination, which is what makes the change that much more significant. But let's face it, wouldn't it be wonderful to just flip a switch and have a complete change take place? If you could change one thing about yourself instantaneously, do tell, what would it be?

Denise Mosher had been counseling couples for years when her feelings about her own 18-year marriage began to trouble her. While searching for tools that would help her understand what was happening, she discovered Naikan, a practice of seeing one's self more clearly, which was developed by a Japanese Buddhist.

It involves asking yourself three simple questions everyday, and Mosher's answers turned out to be surprising, deep and powerful.
