Do Tell: Have You Done Anything Brave Recently?

« Back to Story

After a terrible breakup, I told a close friend that I thought she was very brave for standing by her decision. She just waved me off and told me that breaking up with someone isn't brave. But I completely disagree. Heck, I think getting a Brazilian bikini wax is pretty brave! I think there are many little things that we do throughout our day that, even if they don't look so amazing to an outsider, are really acts of bravery for us. So ladies, do tell, have you done anything big or small in the past week that you consider brave? If so, what was it?

I recently met an 18 year-old boy and we fell in love over skype and we are now bf and gf. I never planned on having a bf at the age of 15 but i he makes me happy. My family won't let me even have a male friend let alone a boyfriend...i am italian and they are very strict on me only! So i took the risk of having an amazing bf and a few male friends on skype behind there backs...

My boyfriend and I went skydiving... and moved in together. Both pretty scary, if you ask me!

lizrocks - so sorry for your loss... I recently cut my hair really short. I think that is brave b/c people use their hair as a safety net too often....

I got over the blues. I have been unsure about my studies and so on.I started to think that my life would be over if I would get to the university this year. Sounds silly, but I was afraid that it might not be the right thing after all. But I'm going to only 20 this year and if I start the university and would not like it - there are still so many other options open. It really is not end of the world if I don't like it that much. And I can still use those studies on my advantage later on.Huh. Rambling. Though week.

After having a 12-hour flu and spending the entire night throwing up, only getting four hours of sleep (in two-hour chunks) and still having a migraine and leftover queasiness, I walked over to Chili's and had an early dinner by myself. I was craving steak all day, I had barely eaten and I was starving. I thought I would take a risk by eating steak, sort of challenging my stomach. It was delicious, and refreshing to eat there by myself!

I'm about to move to China for a year for study reasons (I'm Italian).

I recently broke off a unhealthy relationship that I'd been in off and on for 5 years. It was one of the most difficult things I've had to do but necessary. It's been two months and my heart is still hurting but I do not regret my decision.

I agree graylen! And now I'm going to start incorporating this into my journal! Every week I'll write what brave thing(s) I did that week!! Thanks for the idea ;-)

I LOVE THIS. We should do this like once a month! The brave thing I did this week was stand up to my sister-in-law instead of letting her walk over me.

Aired out some dirty laundry to 3 of my closest friends + myself. I really think it's hard to stand up to your enemy, it can be harder to face up to your friends but it's the hardest to challege and confront yourself. 3 cheers all around!

I went two provinces over for a French immersion program that lasts 5 weeks. I didn't know anyone going when I left, and I'm still pretty beginner in my language skills.

I reached out to an old friend I hadn't spoken to in 10 years.

Breaking up with someone, especially if it's an unhealthy relationship, IS brave. I agree with you on that one, Dear.

I've been speaking up to people and voicing my opinion, that's never been easy for me, but I'm doing it.
