Alexis Stewart and Her Ex-BFF Discuss Friend Breakup
On the Today show this morning, Savannah Guthrie peppered Alexis Stewart, Martha Stewart's daughter, with questions about "controversial" quotes from her new book Whateverland: Learning to Live Here. "Martha does everything better! You can't win! I grew up with a glue gun pointed at my head . . . If I didn't do something perfectly, I had to do it again. So I learned quickly," read one passage. Alexis responded defensively, saying it was supposed to be funny and that she doesn't have an issue with her mom's perfectionism.
If Alexis doesn't want to get into any drama with her mama, there was some serious tension between Alexis and her cowriter and former best friend, Jennifer Koppelman Hutt. Sitting next to each other on the couch, the two awkwardly discussed their "friend breakup," while avoiding eye contact. When asked about writing "I love getting rid of friends. It's so much fun," in her book, Alexis cooly answered, "If you want to punish somebody, never talking to them again is a really good method." Jennifer on the other hand, said she loves Alexis and it was clear she would be friends with her if Alexis would take her back. Watch part of the uncomfortable interview below. Have you ever had a similar friend breakup?
