Amanda Knox Found Innocent
Amanda Knox Is Free From Prison as Murder Conviction Is Overturned
Amanda Knox will be released from Italian prison immediately, after two professional and six lay jurors overturned the 24-year-old's murder conviction for the death of British student Meredith Kercher. Earlier today, Amanda Knox gave an emotional speech to the jury in fluent Italian, saying, "I did not do the things they say I did. I did not kill, rape, or steal."
Amanda, who was studying abroad in Perugia, and her former boyfriend Raffaelle Sollecito were convicted of murdering Amanda's flatmate after an alleged "sex game" gone wrong. But problems with the evidence bolstered her appeal, and Amanda and her boyfriend will be released after spending four years behind bars. The Seattle native will have to pay compensation to bar owner Patrick Lumumba, whom she initially pointed to as the murderer.
