What a Clean House Will Do For Your Sex Life

Cleanliness is now next to sexiness. A new study found sex between married couples increases with time spent cleaning. Though men can contribute, researchers saw the biggest increase when the wife was behind the vacuum.

Housework is not the only laborious aphrodisiac; busy work schedules have their own benefits. Data from the National Survey of Family Households revealed sexual activity also increases with time spent working paid jobs. So much for the too-busy excuse?

um yeah i believe it! my house was a wreck and the getting was not good, now that i have kept the house really clean i feel better and the getting is good, oh so good!

I'm a guy. Single now but when I've spent time cleaning up the apartment with ex girlfriends it takes longer than usual; I find it a huge turn on to engage in any kind of physical activity with my lady and after about 20 min of moving stuff around, loosening up, breaking a sweat and achieving small minor accomplishments, I can't help but pick a girl up, rip her clothes off and make sweet sweet love (wait for it) in an area that we just cleaned.
When did they do this study? 1952? Sex increases if the wife is cleaning? EFF that. If the house is clean because I spent the whole day at it, you can bet I won't be in the mood. I even like to clean, but don't try to tell me a clean house will get me action, so I better do it. Now, if we're both working, cleaning, and cooking, then at the end of the day we may feel like we've both contributed to having a good life together. That will probably get us in the mood. "Studies" always try to make a statement, often with a men versus women attitude. It's important to look at who the study was by, for, and funded by.

Plus, when I got to thinking about it just now, it's a lot of exercise! That's GOTTA help my libido. I always feel a little lustier after working out!

I'm a graduate with a bunch of degrees and certifications and I love my career. I also own my house outright. I'm extremely liberal and a "feminist" according to most. I never thought I'd love cleaning and cooking as much as I do. If I got paid enough to do that, I totally would. I'm GOOD at it. It's frustrating when people EXPECT it and yet don't appreciate it, so I can understand how it can become demeaning. But, I can say that when I've cleaned the house and cooked and can stand back and think "Damn! That looks AWESOME! I LOVE my house! I rock!" it's definitely made me happy and more likely to get frisky.

This study seems a little too convinient. It reminds me of those vintage ads. Of course women thrive on cooking, cleaning, and home maintenance!

Both are true in my case. For the cleanliness turn on, it's not a subservient thing for us, its that I'm the messy one and my husband is the neat freak so whenever I clean up around the house he gets really excited :) For the working hard part, we both just got new jobs: I work long hours and he travels often and ever since we started our jobs the sex has definitely gotten hotter

Just because there's a correlation between the two does not establish a cause and effect relationship. Do you know what women doing a lot of housework and their husbands demanding a lot of sex have in common? Traditional marriage roles in which the woman is subservient to the man.

Hmm... I don't know. Part of the fun is knocking your messy surroundings around when you're really rowdy ;)

I feel a LOT more relaxed when my surroundings are clean. So I could see how I'd be a better mindset for it!
I'm a neat freak. My boyfriend is completely comfortable living in filth. So in regards to this article and a little reflecting: My boyfriend and I have sex most often at my apartment, not so much at his house. When my apartment is dirty, it means I have a mental to do list. When it's clean, and my to do list is gone and I get a chance to relax...sexy time. My boyfriend is well..a boy. And I'm not comfortable sexing it up in his bedroom where there's a chance that a stray arm or foot could knock over the 20 empty bottles sitting on the night stand. I don't like having to shower in his dirty shower. No matter how hard I try if I look around his house I start making a mental "to do list" of all the things that need to be done before I can finally rest. But - I never clean his house or tell him to pick up, that's his problem. So maybe when they say a clean house = more sex, maybe that's because when it's tidy, you don't have to worry about things.

I think it depends on the person! If you look at the love scene at the classic "the Postman Always Rings Twice" a dirty place can be aphrodisiac too. This also reminds me the Woody Allen quote: "Is sex dirty? Only if it's done right!" . Not every woman finds a sterile house a turn on.
