Over the years, research has indicated that boys are more independent and competitive while girls are more sensitive and helpful. Interestingly, a study by Kimberly Updegraff at Arizona State University showed that when kids grow up with an opposite-sex sibling, those gender-linked traits become heightened. In other words, girls become all the more sensitive and helpful when they have a brother, and vise versa.
