Single During the Holidays

How to Survive Being Single During the Holidays

Finding yourself single this holiday season? YourTango shares a few ways to make the best of it.

Sad but true, your relationship status can be the reason for your holiday blues. When you’re single, there seems to be no reason at all you should be excited about the holidays. Everyone would be with their special someone, and they’ll be exchanging gifts and kisses. If this is something you fear because you’ve got nobody to share this moment with, it’s time for you to realize that you needn’t have someone beside you to feel loved this holiday season. Read on to learn some handy tips on how you can avoid feeling alone and lonely during the holidays.

1. Make an extra effort to stand out.

Being single doesn’t mean you should avoid going to parties this holiday season. In fact, you have more reasons to be at as many parties as you can. There will be other single people at those parties, so don’t worry about being left out. Make sure that you look your best that night. Pay attention to your attire, makeup, hair, shoes, accessories, nails, and even your perfume. Your goal is to have everyone asking why you are still single!

2. Keep your eyes off those romantic-comedy DVDs.

One of the worst things you can do during the holidays when you’re single is to watch romantic-comedy DVDs alone in your room. Those Hollywood films can make you feel so good and in love, but not everything that happens in movies really happens in real life! Unfortunately, you can’t sit there waiting for your Prince Charming to knock on the door to ask you to marry him. Don’t make it harder on yourself when it comes to accepting the fact that you are single. There’s nothing wrong with it.
